Dong Jie, Shein’s authorised agent for the Middle East and North Africa, has made an unexpected offer to the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), volunteering her resources to support “Operation Prosperity Guardian,” the United States-led bombing of Yemen’s Houthi population for stopping shipping lanes in the Red Sea.
In a statement posted on social media, Ms. Dong pledged to put “all available resources and tools” at the disposal of General Michael Kurilla, expressing confidence in his ability to free her from the persistent messages of a customer named Mahmoud, whose new iPhone case, ordered last November, has yet to arrive.
Ms. Dong acknowledged that she had, for months, attempted to placate customers with explanations ranging from customs delays to shipping errors. But the continued barrage of inquiries—from Mahmoud, as well as customers Feryal and Dina—had left her with no choice but to escalate matters. She urged Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree to personally explain why another customer, Soumar, was still awaiting delivery of a World Trade Center-themed lighter.
The Shein agent is now appealing for backing from trade unions representing Shein and Temu agents, urging them to set aside their ideological differences and unite against what she described as an “existential threat” to her job security.
