Almost fifty years on from the Islamic Revolution, the people of Iran remain deprived from liberty, separated from the democracy enjoyed by the peoples of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Vietnam, Panama, or Chile.

Political analyst James Ward said the United States would be helping the people of Iran transition into their newfound democracy, supported by suitably armed militias.

“It’s a shame there’s no statue of a tyrant to topple for the news,” he said, adding that Iranians were left with either burning or striking photos of the late Ayatollah Khomenei in lieu of burning or striking the man himself.

Iranian watchdog and expert Sina Moradi said that circumstances would be “ideal for transitioning out of the darkness of the Islamic Revolution years.”

“People will have to survive the crash of the currency, loss of energy, water, electricity, solar, gas, food, medicines, and other essential needs, on top of the risk of kidnapping or sudden armed skirmishes,” he said, speaking over Zoom from his apartment in Amsterdam. “But at least they’ll be free.”
