Two-year-old becomes youngest girl to wear hijab by choice

Toddler Sharmine al-Taarouni became Wednesday the youngest girl ever to wear the hijab, according to a statement from her parents, who said the two-year-old’s independent decision was borne out of deep conviction and faith.

“Dada mama foo foo brrrt malleeee,” Sharmine said when asked about her decision, before throwing a handful of legos at the wall.

Sharmine’s mother said she noticed her daughter’s inclination towards covering up and protecting herself from the eyes of men when she saw her trying to hide herself under bedding sheets.

“I knew then that my daughter was ready,” she said tearfully.

Local resident Umm Mus’ab contested the claim, saying her own daughter emerged from the womb wearing a hijab, an event that she said left even German scientists flummoxed, eventually forcing them to embrace Islam.
