A proposal submitted by representatives of the Bechtel Corporation to the United Nations Security Council calling for a ceasefire on the war in Gaza has been vetoed.

Bechtel, as well as other real estate corporations, had aimed to rebuild Gaza and secure substantial profits, mirroring previous projects in Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Afghanistan. They responded to the veto by disparaging the “greed” of arms companies in Gaza.

At the meeting, a representative of Lockheed Martin fired two shots into the air before casting the veto, stating that war profits had not yet met the corporation’s $10,000,000,000,000 goals in arms deals. He added that the war also created the opportunity to test more weapons, increase the explosive weight of bombs, and destroy larger areas, a move which would “surely benefit real restate companies in the long run.”
