A local notable in a neighborhood in the capital gave his daughter away to a scrap dealer Wednesday, along with a broken washing machine and an old dresser, after she lost her hymen while riding her brother’s bicycle without permission.
The man, who was identified only by the initials M.F., said the girl was no longer of value after losing her hymen, even if she was skilled at cooking, cleaning, or preparing tea and coffee.
“Imagine if you burned a hole in one of your shirts with a cigarette,” he said. “Of course you would get rid of it or turn it into a cleaning rag, even if it covered the rest of your body.”
M.F. said it was up to the scrap dealer to deal with his daughter as he saw fit, whether by recycling her and installing an artificial hymen, or reselling her to another man to take care of her.
M.F. added that he would get rid of the bike to avoid a repeat of the incident with his younger daughter, who is now his only hope at receiving a dowry.
